Trust & safety · UpDash

The people who bring you UpDash.

Every driver who wears the UpDash bag has been through the same process. Here’s what that looks like — and why it matters when you’re opening the door for someone, or handing over an order from your kitchen.

Our standards

Five things every UpDash driver has done before their first delivery.

We won’t put anyone in front of you that we haven’t put through this first. The list is short on purpose — every item is something we actually do, not marketing.

  1. Right to work in Mauritius

Mauritian nationals with a valid national ID, or foreign workers with a valid Mauritian work permit. We verify it during sign-up before any deliveries can be accepted.

  2. Certificate of Character process

Our drivers complete the Mauritian Certificate of Character process before they start with us. It’s a small extra step that gives customers and merchants real peace of mind.

  3. Vehicle, insurance and operating licence

For delivery: a registered moto, scooter or car with valid insurance. For tiTaxi: a licensed taxi vehicle with the operating permit and insurance in place. We verify it all before the first ride.

  4. Hands-on training before their first delivery

A short, in-person walkthrough of the app, the etiquette we expect, food handling for hot and cold orders, and how to handle the small moments — late arrivals, hard-to-find addresses, awkward stairs.

  5. Rated by you after every drop-off

Every food delivery and tiTaxi drop-off ends with a rating from the customer. We review and audit those ratings every week — top performers earn rewards and priority dispatch, and that incentive keeps the standard high. Sustained issues mean a driver loses their place on the platform.

How we keep it consistent

Vetting is the start, not the finish.

A clean Certificate of Character at sign-up is necessary. It isn’t sufficient. Here’s how we keep the standard up after a driver’s first delivery.

Before

Real training, not a quiz

Every new driver spends time with a member of our team going through the app, the handover etiquette, and the food-handling rules. We don’t hand them a PDF and walk away.

During

Code of conduct, in the app

The expectations — respectful tone, helmet on, food sealed, time-on-arrival — are built into the driver app. Reach our team in one tap if something feels off, on either side.

After

Performance reviews, weekly

Ratings and comments reach our team in real time. Once a week we sit down and audit the patterns — celebrate the drivers earning consistent five-star handovers, and act on the ones who aren’t meeting the bar.

A note to restaurants

The driver at your pickup window has been onboarded by our team.

You can rate the handover after every pickup — was the driver on time, polite, prepared? That feedback reaches us in real time, not at the end of the month.

If something goes wrong, the same team that onboarded the driver picks up the phone. You don’t go through a call-centre tree.
