UPDASH DRIVER APP PRIVACY POLICY
This page explains how the UpDash Driver App collects, uses, stores, and shares personal data for delivery drivers in Mauritius.

Section 01
1. SCOPE
This Privacy Policy applies to the UpDash Driver App used by delivery drivers in Mauritius.
The Driver App lets drivers:
- sign in and manage their driver profile
- go online to receive delivery offers
- share operational location data while available for work
- navigate to stores and customers
- communicate with customers through order chat
- view or manage payout details already held on file and maintain emergency contact details
- upload operational photos where required
This page explains the personal data that the Driver App collects, uses, stores, and shares.

3. PERSONAL DATA WE COLLECT
3.1 Driver Account and Profile Data
- First name and last name
- Email address
- Phone number
- Password, OTP, and authentication data
- Driver account identifiers and status data
3.2 Operational Location Data
The Driver App collects precise location data when needed for delivery operations.
This can include:
- current device location
- location heartbeats sent while the driver is online
- location updates used for dispatch, order assignment, and delivery progress
- last known operational location shown during active deliveries
3.3 Order and Delivery Operations Data
- active delivery status and driver screen state
- store pickup details and customer drop-off details
- payment method and cash-on-delivery handling data
- pending cash reconciliation or settlement information
3.4 Communications Data
- push notification token and related messaging data
- customer-driver chat messages
- location messages shared in chat
3.5 Photos and Uploaded Files
- photos uploaded for operational reasons such as issue reporting or order cancellation evidence
- related file metadata needed to process the upload
3.6 Payout Profile and Emergency Contact Data
The Driver App may process:
- bank name
- account number
- recipient name
- account type
- NIC number
- phone number linked to payout information
- SWIFT code where applicable
- emergency contact name
- emergency contact relationship
- emergency contact phone number
This information is used to display or maintain payout and safety details linked to the driver account. The Driver App is not a customer checkout app and does not process driver card payments inside the app.

4. PERMISSIONS AND FEATURES USED BY THE DRIVER APP
The Driver App may request or use the following device features:
- Precise location while using the app
- Background location while the driver is online, so UpDash can assign deliveries, monitor delivery progress, and provide live operational updates
- Notifications for dispatch offers, chat alerts, and operational messages
- Camera and Photos to let drivers upload required images
- Maps and Navigation to support routing and delivery operations
If required permissions are not granted, the Driver App may not function correctly for delivery work.

5. HOW WE USE PERSONAL DATA
We use Driver App data to:
- authenticate drivers and secure driver accounts
- determine whether a driver is online and available for delivery work
- assign delivery offers and manage dispatch operations
- show stores and customers the progress of active deliveries
- support navigation and route-related functions
- enable customer-driver communication
- display or maintain payout information already held on file and support cash reconciliation operations
- maintain emergency contact information for driver support or safety processes
- investigate complaints, safety incidents, fraud, abuse, or policy violations
- send operational push notifications

7. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
The Driver App may rely on third-party services such as:
- Firebase Cloud Messaging for push notifications
- Mapbox and other map or routing tools for map display and delivery operations
- Google Maps or related navigation tools when drivers open navigation links
- Microsoft Azure and related cloud infrastructure providers for backend hosting and platform operations
These providers may process data on our behalf or as independent service providers for the services they deliver.

8. DATA RETENTION
We retain Driver App data only for as long as needed for delivery operations, legal obligations, safety, compliance, fraud prevention, tax, audit, or dispute handling.
Examples include:
- account and profile data while the driver relationship remains active
- operational records relating to deliveries, cash handling, disputes, and investigations
- payout and settlement records for financial and audit purposes
- emergency contact information while needed for the driver relationship
- notification tokens until they are deactivated, replaced, or no longer needed
Where appropriate, data may be anonymized instead of fully deleted when records must be retained for legal or legitimate business reasons.

9. LOCATION-SPECIFIC DISCLOSURE
The Driver App is intended for delivery work. If a driver goes online, the app may collect and transmit precise location data even when the app is not actively on screen, so that UpDash can:
- send nearby delivery offers
- support dispatch decisions
- show delivery progress
- help resolve operational or safety issues
If a driver does not want the app to collect background location, the driver should go offline and stop using delivery mode.

10. ACCOUNT CLOSURE AND DRIVER REQUESTS
Drivers may request account closure or privacy assistance by contacting legal@updash.mu or the UpDash operations team.
Even after closure, certain records may be retained for legal, compliance, fraud-prevention, safety, audit, tax, payment, or dispute-handling purposes.

11. SECURITY
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect Driver App data, including:
- encrypted connections
- authenticated API access
- secure token storage on supported devices
- restricted access to sensitive operational data
- logging, monitoring, and fraud-prevention controls
No service can guarantee absolute security.
Section 12
12. INTERNATIONAL OR CROSS-BORDER PROCESSING
The Driver App may use cloud and technical providers that process data outside Mauritius, including providers used for hosting, notifications, mapping, and operational infrastructure.
Where this happens, UpDash applies appropriate technical and contractual safeguards intended to protect personal data.

We may update this Driver App Privacy Policy from time to time. The latest version will be published on this page.
