UPDASH CLIENT APP PRIVACY POLICY

This page explains how the UpDash Client App collects, uses, stores, and shares personal data for customers and guest users in Mauritius, including the in-app account deletion flow and the public fallback deletion request page.

Section 01

1. SCOPE

This Privacy Policy applies to the UpDash Client App for customers and guest users in Mauritius.

The Client App lets users:

  • create an account or continue as a guest
  • browse nearby stores and delivery options
  • save delivery addresses
  • place and track orders
  • chat with drivers or support teams
  • make payments, top up wallet balances, and buy or redeem gift cards

This page explains the personal data that the Client App collects, uses, stores, and shares.

3. PERSONAL DATA WE COLLECT

3.1 Account and Profile Data

  • First name and last name
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Password or OTP login data
  • Profile preferences saved in the app

3.2 Guest Session and Device Data

  • Anonymous guest identifier generated by the app
  • Device token for push notifications, if enabled
  • App version, platform, and related device/session data
  • IP address and security logs processed by our backend services

3.3 Location and Address Data

  • Current device location, when you allow location access
  • Saved delivery addresses
  • Address coordinates such as latitude and longitude
  • Address search and selection data from map and places services

3.4 Order, Delivery, and Support Data

  • Order history and order status
  • Delivery address, drop-off preferences, and delivery instructions
  • Customer support requests and messages
  • Complaint photos or screenshots uploaded in support flows
  • Customer-driver chat messages
  • Location messages shared in chat, if you choose to send a location

3.5 Delivery Tracking Data

During an active delivery, the Client App may display operational delivery details such as:

  • driver name
  • driver phone number
  • last known driver location shared for order tracking

3.6 Payment, Wallet, and Gift Card Data

UpDash does not store full card numbers in the Client App.

The Client App may process or store:

  • transaction identifiers
  • payment status and refund status
  • wallet balance and wallet top-up records
  • gift card purchase and redemption records
  • gift card recipient email, recipient name, and personal message
  • limited checkout session details needed to complete payment

4. PERMISSIONS AND FEATURES USED BY THE CLIENT APP

The Client App may request or use the following device features:

  • Location to show nearby stores, calculate delivery availability, and help you set delivery addresses
  • Notifications to send order updates, chat alerts, support updates, and other service messages
  • Camera and Photos to let you upload complaint photos, screenshots, or other support attachments
  • Embedded Web Checkout to open secure payment pages from our payment provider inside the app

If you do not grant optional permissions, some app features may be limited.

5. HOW WE USE PERSONAL DATA

We use Client App data to:

  • create and manage customer accounts
  • authenticate users and protect accounts
  • support guest browsing and guest checkout flows where available
  • save and manage delivery addresses
  • process and fulfil orders
  • show live delivery progress
  • enable customer-driver and customer-support communication
  • process payments, refunds, wallet top-ups, and gift card transactions
  • investigate complaints, disputes, and fraud
  • send transactional push notifications
  • maintain app security, reliability, and abuse prevention

Section 06

6. WHO WE SHARE DATA WITH

We may share limited Client App data with:

  • assigned stores and drivers so orders can be prepared, dispatched, and delivered
  • payment providers, including Peach Payments, to complete checkout, payment, and refund flows
  • map, geolocation, and address providers to support address search, maps, and routing features
  • cloud and messaging providers, including hosting and push notification providers, to operate the service
  • support, compliance, and fraud teams where needed to investigate issues
  • regulators, courts, or authorities where disclosure is required by law

UpDash does not sell personal data.

Section 07

7. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

The Client App may rely on third-party services such as:

  • Firebase Cloud Messaging for push notifications
  • Google Maps and Google Places for maps, address lookup, and geolocation support
  • Peach Payments for secure checkout and payment processing
  • Microsoft Azure and related cloud infrastructure providers for backend hosting and platform operations

These providers may process data on our behalf or as independent service providers for the specific services they deliver.

Section 08

8. DATA RETENTION

We retain Client App data only for as long as needed for service delivery, legal obligations, fraud prevention, tax, audit, or dispute handling.

Examples include:

  • account data until the account is deleted or closed
  • order, wallet, and payment records for legal, tax, audit, and fraud purposes
  • support tickets, chat records, and attachments for investigation and service records
  • notification tokens until they are deactivated, replaced, or no longer needed

Where possible, data may be anonymized instead of fully deleted when records must be retained for legitimate business or legal reasons.

9. ACCOUNT DELETION AND USER CHOICES

You can delete your Client App account from the app settings when immediate deletion is available.

If you no longer have access to the app or cannot complete deletion there, you can submit a request through the public Client App account deletion page at https://www.updash.mu/account-deletion/client-app.

You may also contact legal@updash.mu for privacy-related questions or deletion assistance.

You can also manage certain privacy choices directly through the app or device settings, including:

  • notification permissions
  • location permissions
  • saved addresses and profile details

If you request account deletion, UpDash may first verify your identity. Some transaction, tax, audit, fraud, dispute, or legal records may still be retained in accordance with applicable requirements.

Section 10

10. SECURITY

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect Client App data, including:

  • encrypted connections
  • authenticated API access
  • secure token storage on supported devices
  • access controls
  • monitoring and fraud-prevention controls

No service can guarantee absolute security.

Section 11

11. INTERNATIONAL OR CROSS-BORDER PROCESSING

The Client App may use cloud and technical providers that process data outside Mauritius, including providers used for hosting, notifications, and payment services.

Where this happens, UpDash applies appropriate technical and contractual safeguards intended to protect personal data.

12. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this Client App Privacy Policy from time to time. The latest version will be published on this page.
